Elaine Hobert

EDUCATIONAL CONSULTANT

Elaine has dedicated her life to education. She has spent the last twenty years teaching in public and private schools in Los Angeles, advising families, and most recently, serving as the Associate Director of Admissions at Carlthorp School. She not only understands the unique admissions landscape from an educational point of view, but also from the lens of a parent, having just gone through the admissions process with her own children. Elaine has learned valuable insights from both sides and is ready to share her extensive knowledge and assist parents who are trying to navigate through the world of private, public, and charter schools in Los Angeles.

A native of the Midwest, Elaine came to Los Angeles to pursue her studies at the University of Southern California. She double majored, earning Bachelor's degrees in Piano Performance and Humanities, and later, her teaching credential and Master’s degree in Education. She began her career with the Los Angeles Unified School District, teaching in low-income and low-performing schools throughout Los Angeles. In 2010, Elaine took a position at Carlthorp School and chaired her grade level’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. She joined the Admissions team in 2017.

Starting her own educational consulting service was a natural next step for Elaine. Her extensive background in education provides an understanding of children's academic and developmental stages and needs. Her experience as the Associate Director of Admissions helps Elaine guide families with firsthand, insider knowledge of how the application process works - from initial interview to acceptance day. Lastly, as a parent having just gone through the admissions process with her own children, Elaine understands how raw and real this process can feel and she is here to shed light every step of the way so it's not such an overwhelming and daunting journey for parents. She can't wait to meet your family and get to work!
